Callaghans Estate Agent along with other local businesses are joining together to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Care on Friday 30th September between 1.30-3.30pm.
A quad of shops in Gatley, will each have a table of cakes and goodies outside (weather permitting!) with pupils from Gatley Primary School in charge of taking donations.
The focus is on raising money for a charity that provides much needed care and support to people with cancer and their families. The shops whilst not connected commecially were keen to come together to highlight such an important cause.
The Big Bake organised by Sean Callaghan, Managing Director said,"these days it's rare to know someone who hasn't been affected by cancer; it can shake a person, their family and friends to the core and we were keen to show our support.
I'm delighted our neighbours 'Lowick Mackay', 'Magic Moments' and 'Remember When' agreed to link up for the bake sale, it shows that we're putting community fundraising before anything else, which is how it should be when its comes to supporting such a brilliant cause."
Gatley Primary Pupils, who are part of the young Gatley Village Partnership initiative are forgoing their lunchtime play to come into the village to help the shops out with serving the goodies and importantly collecting donations. Cakes will be available from 1.30-3.30pm.
Callaghans are accepting cake and goodie donations from Monday 26th September onwards from anyone in the community who also wishes to contribute their own baked cakes. Sean adds; "we've already had some really generous offers from other businesses in Gatley and the surrounding area to make some cakes for the event, which we have gratefully accepted. Our other office in Heald Green is also holding a cake and coffee morning for those who would like to pop in there instead or as well!"
